PROPOSED PROPERTY TAX BILLS NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE
FOR TRAVIS COUNTY PROPERTY OWNERS

Taxpayers can see the impact of upcoming budget decisions and election items at TravisTaxes.com

AUSTIN, Texas—Travis County property owners can now review proposed tax rates and their potential impact on 2024 property tax bills online at TravisTaxes.com.

According to Travis Central Appraisal District (TCAD) Chief Appraiser Leana Mann, Over the next few months, discussions on budgets, tax rates, bond elections, and voter approval tax rate elections could have a major impact on property tax bills. Travis County property owners can use TravisTaxes.com to see how these decisions will impact them and learn how to participate in these conversations.

TravisTaxes.com allows a property owner to review the proposed tax rates for taxing entities that pertain to their property. The website breaks down how much of their tax bill goes to each entity, lists upcoming hearings that owners can attend to participate in the budget process, and provides a convenient online option where taxpayers can leave feedback. In many cases, proposed tax rates incorporate decisions that Travis County voters will make in November when they vote on bonds and voter approval tax rates proposed by their entities. Travis County, Manor ISD, and Austin ISD are among the taxing entities considering asking residents to cast votes in the November election that would increase their property tax bills.

In addition, TravisTaxes.com makes it easy for property owners to see the impact that proposed budgets have on their property tax bills by comparing what a property’s tax bill would be if entities kept their budgets the same as last year versus a property tax bill with the new, proposed rates. State law requires taxing entities to calculate and publish their no new revenue rates, or the rates they would adopt without a change in their budgets, to make it easier for the public to evaluate how budget decisions impact tax bills.

A no new revenue rate balances a budget with changes in market values, added Mann. Adopting a tax rate above the no new revenue rate increases property tax bills.

Each taxing entity publishes tax rate information based on its schedule for adopting its new budget. Because these schedules may vary, property owners can expect to regularly see updates to their information over the coming weeks as new data is received.

The District will offer an online webinar on August 13, 2024 at 11:30 am to help Travis County property owners understand how to navigate TravisTaxes.com. Registration is available online at traviscad.org/webinars.
